hush now
how do you turn the volume down when the world gets too loud?
We are surrounded by noise.
On the outside with work, family and our social life, and on the inside through the thoughts that fill up our minds, worries, and responsibilities that we juggle.
Overstimulated we struggle to process as the noise drowns out our ability to connect to stillness and the more scattered we become in our senses.
It is in this state of overwhelm that we become most stressed, worried and anxious about life and struggle to remain thinking and feeling, as we fight for some kind of survival through what has now become ‘too much’.
Our brains and body will always speak to us when we need rest, solitude and stillness, and if we neglect taking the time to listen, it too has to shout above the din.
Here are a few different ways that you can turn down the volume when life is noisy.
Enjoying blue and green spaces - A free resource accessible for many through finding a little time out in nature.
A silent retreat - OK, who am I kidding, most of us can’t realistically afford a retreat, but how about a silent weekend, no, how about a silent hour? Engaging in quiet all alone, creating a brief moment in silence, to unwind and let go of stress and worry to cultivate greater mental and emotional balance.
A social media switch-off - Do I need to say more?
