fragile process

If you’re constantly trapped in a cycle of overthinking or ruminating then you may also have noticed feelings of isolation, depression and anxiety too.

It is often when we are trying to push away something difficult or uncertain in our lives, or when a situation feels out of our control that we begin to run ahead in an unconscious bid to communicate to ourselves that we are safe and have everything under our control.

Fears of facing our feelings can cause us to distort our experiences and can make it harder for us to get closer to the things that most need our attention.

Avoiding the way we are experiencing ourselves and others can result in poor mental health.

Here are a few ways that counselling can help with overthinking.

  1. It creates a dedicated space to explore and notice negative thought patterns and behaviour cycles

  2. It offers an opportunity to reflect on how this fragile way of processing experiences and feelings is impacting mental health

  3. It gives a voice to the stuck words so that they can be heard out loud
